The trilingual publication AlpiTypes offers a unique insight into graphic production in the Alpine region at the beginning of the 20th century and highlights both historical and contemporary typographic work across 274 pages. The volume features 100 posters created by students of the Faculty of Design and Art at the Free University of Bozen–Bolzano, based on more than 60 historical graphics sourced from the archives of today’s Euregio regions of South Tyrol, Tyrol and Trentino. The works are preceded by specialist essays written by graphic designers, art historians, university lecturers and curators.
This book brings to light the little-known typographic heritage of the Alpine region—an artistic legacy that masterfully blends influences from Art Nouveau, Futurism and Rationalism—and finally presents it to a broader public.
AlpiTypes combines historical research with design practice to create a work of lasting relevance. The book is not only a reference volume but also a visual treasure trove for the curious and for design enthusiasts, as well as an invitation to approach design with openness and curiosity. Moreover, AlpiTypes serves as the accompanying catalogue to the exhibition “AlpiTypes: letters images traces” at Kunst Meran Merano Arte (24 October 2025 – 18 January 2026).
